Close to the attractive town of Rawtenstall in the Rossendale Valley, Loveclough is surrounded by Lancastrian heritage.

Rawtenstall’s local stone buildings house a wide range of contemporary restaurants and independent shops. Rawtenstall Market is a great place to while away an afternoon browsing the stalls. The market is occupied by high quality food and drink providers, vintage specialists, artisan crafts, plus live music, making it a great place to visit.

The town boasts a huge variety of restaurants. You can dine out on Mexican, Italian, Spanish or Indian food, drink a local beer at Hop micro pub, or meet for lunch at one of the many delis and cafes. As well as shopping and dining, there’s Ski Rossendale, the north of England’s biggest dry-ski slope.

Head for Lee Quarry if you fancy a spot of mountain biking, a collection of purpose-built trails that will keep you peddling for hours. Or if water skiing is your thing, take a trip to the Water Ski Academy, based at Cowm Reservoir. For gentler outdoor pursuits, a visit to Ogden River for a stroll or a picnic is guaranteed to relieve any stress. On Clow Bridge reservoir it’s all go with sailing, wind surfing and fishing organised through the thriving Rossendale Valley Sailing Club.

If you’re looking for something a little alternative, Halo Panopticon is a sculpture on Top O’Slate, which illuminates the sky with its cool blue glow. Haworth gallery is also located close by. For something more nostalgic, why not visit the East Lancashire Railway, whose wonderful old trains run through the countryside and stop off at Rawtenstall station. This perfect Pennines landscape, is the setting for all kinds of rural activities. There’s the 30-mile Irwell Sculpture Trail, which goes through Rawtenstall and plays host to some wonderful artwork.

If golf is your thing, there are three excellent golf clubs on your doorstep. For football fans, there’s three football teams (Burnley, Blackburn and Accrington Stanley) close by.

As well as all the superb outdoor pursuits, the area is home to some outstanding primary and secondary schools, some with Ofsted’s outstanding rating.

Rossendale town centre is only 10 minutes’ drive with a wealth of independent commercial and dining outlets. Burnley and Accrington are a short distance away with Blackburn, Preston and Manchester within easy commute.

Burnley and Blackburn are the next largest nearby towns. As with any modern town, high street favourites, eateries and entertainment venues make the 26 minute drive to Blackburn, a worthwhile trip. From here there is easy access to the M65 motorway East, making the rest of the North West in easy reach. Blackburn Station is one of the largest stations in the area and an interchange for trains to York and most main Lancashire towns.

Burnley lies just 15 minutes away, making this busy town a superb place for the more cultural visit. Its museums and outdoor venues, are a great way to while away the hours.

Located within a few miles of the M65, the possibilities to reach further afield are almost endless. The west coast is within an hour drive, bringing beaches for those sunny weekend trips.

Manchester has plenty of iconic cultural elements, and sporting greats. And competing with Liverpool’s musical history is Manchester’s own rich vein in rock and roll - notably The Smiths and Oasis. Seen as one of the most stylish cities in the UK, Manchester has its fair share of top eateries and fashionable shops to keep even the most refined tastes satisfied.
